DisneyLand Paris with an Infant
DisneyLand Paris, with an infant.
Hello, hello and thank you for watching our vlog (assuming that is what has directed you here, if not, check it out on our YT page now).
I wanted to start with our packing and shopping list at the top, scroll down for a little run down of our trip.
Packing List:
N.B. This was the first time we had travelled away with our freshly turned toddler (1 year and 10 days) so we hadn't transitioned him onto Cows milk, it took the headache out of trying to source cows milk for him when he wanted it, so we took plenty of ready made bottles with us. I had read that fridges were not available in the standard rooms, I therefore took my little portable fridge with us to keep any unused milk fresh.
Shopping list:
You can find all the items mentioned in our video on my Amazon Store front.
UK to European adapter, two plugs and 3 USB.
Astro Mini fridge, comes with a car cable and one for the wall.
Baby Penguin nightlight we use, fully portable only requires a USB plug and the egg is removable. Light brightness can be adjusted on both.
Portable and tiny white noise machine, has a timer and loads of different sounds depending on your preference. Again only requires a USB plug.
Travel:
We travelled on this occasion via the direct service to Marne la Vallee from St Pancras. Not as easy as it used to be when you could go direct from Ebbsfleet, it's a shame that this service is now redundant for the foreseeable. Due to passport control issues on the French side, we had to make a stop at Lille, even though we were on the direct service back, let me tell you with three one year olds, a seven year old, a disabled person, countless luggage and purchases plus three buggies having to clear all our stuff off the train and then queue for 1.5 hours to have our passports checked and then get back on to the exact same train was HELL!!! After that even if the direct service was a thing I would never opt to do it again with a little person in tow or with it terminating at St Pancras, the journey to London is a pain and almost as long as it takes to get to Folkestone or Dover.
Accommodation:
Newport Bay Club. 15-20 mins walk from the park entrance and overlooks the lake.
Pro's - beautiful, and great location, own security which is quicker than the one at the top of the lake as that serves all the other hotels.
Clean rooms, smells amazing, has an inside and outside pool.
Has its own security line to access Disney Village, the other at the top of the lake serves all the other hotels and is busy.
Friendly staff and housekeepers.
Con's - huge - the lifts your told to use may not actually be the closest to your room so have a little explore, we found this the case.
If travelling with wheelchairs or pushchairs you can use the main lifts to the lobby level/street level for car park and buses. This is however a level above Disney Village if you are walking, to get down a further level requires the stairs or one single lift, that fits one pushchair/wheelchair at a time, at peak times the queues were silly, multiple times we lugged the 20kg buggy and luggage up the stairs. This isn't something I had seen mentioned anywhere else!
No fridges, we took a mini fridge we already had for the babies milk.
Limited plug sockets, and no USB sockets.
The Parks
As a seasoned Disney goer it struck me hard when i realised having a one year old with me meant we were getting very little done, yet I came away with over 3 hours of footage to edit for our family video.
Don't stress yourself out, we made it onto just 5 rides in the 4 days we were there. Instead we would head back to the hotel for a nap (all of us) and then a nice little swim in the pool as it was mostly really hot whilst we were there.
Whilst at the parks, we took things slow we wandered around the shops, saw the parades and the Lion King: Rhythm of the Pride Lands show on this visit. We wandered around the accessible/ buggy friendly Skull rock caves in adventure land, our little one was too big and heavy for a carrier let alone carrying him the whole way round, he had only just been walking a month so wasn't walking far on his own. We strolled under the castle to see the dragon, and through Aladdin's passage, we'd take a seat and have a little snack and then wander in some more shops. It was a pace I wasn't used to at Disney, and although frustrated at first that we'd done next to no rides by the end of it I was quite happy but it did leave me wanting to come back as I felt we hadn't seen everything. When we got home and I put our holiday video together, we booked to come back just before Christmas and the school holidays start, my favourite time to be at Disneyland Paris. You will be able to see this in a future vlog.
We paid for the fast track queues for Ratatouille as I hadn't been on that and it was a family ride, and also Peter Pan's Flight, I couldn't leave without my little boy going on it, this story has always had such a special place in my heart as has the ride. We also did Pirates as the queue was minimal and finally the Magic Carpets in Studios.
We took a few different baby costumes so getting photo's of him whilst he was young enough to pose in them was a big priority for me, Donald Duck loved meeting his mini duck. I also wanted to recreate photo's of me there as a child, so we spent a lot of time doing these things and these are the most precious photo's and moments from the trip.
All in all for our first trip abroad I would say it was a success and it prepped us for future trips and what would be do-able with a toddler in tow.
Thank you for investing your time in my blog and vlog, any burning questions feel free to comment.
